This picture was based off a photograph of Earth from an orbiting satellite or an astronaut, I believe. Nonetheless, I saw a sci-fi show known as the "Outer Limits," and I suddenly found a reborn fixation on the planet that most of us can call "Home." I used a combination of photoshop tools and effects, my incredibly cheap drawing tablet, and of course, the original picture. This probably could be considered a photomanipulation, but it was created with so many mediums, I couldn't categorize it.
Suppose this is what happens when you spend every weekday watching Star Trek, and then you read the books. Anyways, this is my first real work I've ever done, and I suppose I'm looking forward to doing some more in the future.
(BTW, I know that the sun is incorrectly positioned according to the Earth's placement and lighting. Despite the practical lighting error, I figured that the lens flare worked nicely)
The lense flare worked well for this piece. What I really like are all the animal transformations that are occuring on the planet. They are a little bit hard to see from this angle, but if you squint you can make them all out.
But seriously, photoshop is a very powerful tool once you get the hang of using it. I used to take pictures and manipulate them like this or take my favorite artists' uncolored works and color them for practice. It's a good skill to pick up on if you have the time to do it. Keep playing around with the program, and if you have any questions, let me know and I might be able to help you out.
One question, though. Is that little circle in the upper right corner supposed to be the moon? The moon is actually rather far from the earth (forget how far, too lazy to look up). It looks like the moon is close enough to the earth to start causing tidal waves, which would be bad. Might have just been best to leave it out, if that's what it is.
wow, nice work fore!! I guess I'll need to keep an eye on you from now on!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
